Description
Anyone who has read the pages narrating the daring adventures of Sandokan, a mythical character born from the powerful pen of Emilio Salgàri (Verona, Italy 1862-1911), cannot but have dreamed, imagined, and mentally lived these amazing actions. Set in wild and distant lands, Sandokan’s adventures are splendidly described by Salgàri who, as if in a film, imagines exciting deeds permeated with action and charm in exotic and remote territories. The imagination of the Veronese writer, one of the most translated in the world, has inspired films and music of great impact, even providing writing ideas for young authors of adventure stories.
Luciano Feliciani has portrayed in music the emotions of his youthful readings of Salgàri’s stories, and he has created a descriptive, bold, and engaging composition that outlines the plot of the novel The Tigers of Mompracem, the first in which the figure of Sandokan appears. The enthralling and captivating main theme in 5/4 time represents this hero. It develops over a rhythmic accompaniment of percussions and then transforms into an impetuous and disruptive Allegro inspired by the deeds of the Tiger of Malaysia who, together with his crew, bravely fights against the English invaders.
