GALA GALOP
Solo Xylophone
Description
This short, brilliant, and funny composition in the form of a playful variation showcases both the soloist and the technical ability of the entire ensemble. It is based on the simple harmonic progressions of folk songs of the provinces of Cremona and Brescia, respectively the homelands of the composer and of the young percussionist Filippo Pelucchi (excellent specimen of the percussion class of the Bonporti Conservatory of Trento) to whom the composition is dedicated. As the work unfolds, two well-known popular melodies become more and more clear, namely the familiar "Siür padrùn dali beli braghi bianchi " in the first and third part of the composition and "L’uva fogarina " in the middle section.
