Giovanni Bruni
Born in 1982, Bruni began his music education at the Music Lyceum in Trento, where he graduated in 2001. The following year, under the guidance of Pepito Ros, he completed his degree in saxophone. He further refined his music education in jazz with Mauro Negri and Achille Succi at the master-classes of Siena Jazz, with Tino Tracanna and Paolo Fresu at the workshops of Nuoro Jazz, and with Robert Bonisolo.
In 2007, he graduated in Composition and Instrumentation for Band with Daniele Carnevali at the Conservatory ''F. A. Bonporti'' in Trento, and in 2012, he completed specialization degrees with diplomas in Instrumentation for Band, Composition, and Conducting with highest honors and distinction. He studied composition and band conducting with Daniele Carnevali (Italy), Hardy Mertens (Netherlands), Marco Somadossi (Italy), Louis Buskens (Netherlands), Jan Cober (Netherlands), and Steven Melillo (USA). As part of a workshop with composer and conductor Fulvio Creux (Italy) in Rome, he has conducted the Wind Band of the Italian Army.
With the compositions ''Penta'' and ''Popular Suite'' he won first and second prize at the composition competition for the ''Centenary of Foundation'' of San Martino Canavese (Turin). These and other works for wind band are published by Scomegna Musical Edition of Turin.
Currently, he conducts the Civic Wind Band of Tuenno and the Wind Band ''Altopiano di Andalo.'' In 2007, he served as conductor of the Representative Youth Wind Band of the Trentino Wind Band Federation, and from 2009 to 2013 he has conducted the Youth Wind Band ''Valli del Noce'' with which he received the third prize in the category Youth Band B at the Thirteenth National Wind Band Competition ''La bacchetta d'oro'' in Fiuggi (Frosinone).
