Michele Grassani
Grassani graduated with honor from the Conservatory of Music “A. Boito” of Parma with degrees in saxophone under the guidance of Luciano Alunno and in wind band instrumentation under the guidance of Andrea Saba. Thereafter, he completed the two-year advanced course in wind band instrumentation with Daniele Carnevali at the Conservatory of Music “F. A. Bonporti” of Trento.
He has also participated in masterclasses with Lorenzo Pusceddu, Jacob de Haan, Jan Van der Rost, and Marco Marzi.
He was the main conductor of the “Provadorchestra Project” and the “Kosmos Wind Ensemble,” with which he made the audio recording of “Va pensiero” for Aung San Suu Kyi in collaboration with the choir of the Comprehensive Institute Parmigianino. Moreover, he was guest conductor of the choir “Giuseppe Verdi” and of the “Ducale Armonia” of Parma. With the latter group, he programmed a concert of unpublished works by the nineteenth-century composer Martin Scholl.
All his original works have been performed by the “Symphonic Wind Band” of the Conservatory of Music “A. Boito” of Parma.
Grassani is a member of the “Sax Appeal Quartet” and of the “Historical Saxophone Quartet”.
In 2014, he collaborated with the orchestra “Luigi Cherubini” conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Currently, he is the conductor of the youth band “I Fiatoni” of the wind band “G. Verdi” of Parma.
