Marco Tamanini

Born in 1954, he graduated in composition, band instrumentation and choral music from the Verona Conservatory and in orchestra direction from the Pesaro Conservatory. His band and chamber music has won awards at various national and international competitions and his works are published in Italy (by Scomegna, Wicky, Eufonia, Berben, Rugginenti, Eridania) and Holland (by Bronsheim Muziekuit Geverij Brunssum and Baton Music Eindhoven). He has been director of the Banda Musicale della Polizia di Stato in Rome and guest director of the Civica Orchestra di Fiati of Padova and Milan. He has taught at a number of Italian conservatories and directed the bands of the Bari and Parma Conservatories. He taught ensemble music for wind instruments at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan, where he founded and directed the wind orchestra. As a teacher of composition and band direction, he often acts as rapporteur at national and international conventions. He has organised training courses for art directors with Italian band associations and held refresher courses for band directors at the “C. Pollini” Conservatory in Padova and the “A. Buzzolla” Conservatory in Adria (Rome). He is invited to sit on national and international panels to judge band performance and composition, and writes for a number of magazines in the wind instrument sector.
