Franco Puliafito studied music at the F. A. Bomporti State Conservatory and graduated in horn with Prof. Michele Fait in 1993. He then studied composition and graduated in Band Instrumentation in 2000 with Daniele Carnevali. He has played the horn with many orchestras and chamber music ensembles but has a predilection for wind symphony orchestras, with which he has gained considerable experience at international level. He currently works with the “Stanislao Silesu” band in Samassi (Cagliari) and the “Trentino Wind Band” (Trento). He conceived the international “Marciando con la Banda” com-petition and was art director of the first edition. He is often invited by other bands to act as guest director. He directs the Banda degli Istituti Superiori di Tione (Trento), which has a busy concert schedule in Italy and abroad. His original compositions for band have won various national awards.
