Luciano Feliciani

Luciano Feliciani began studying music at a very young age and graduated in Trumpet in 1995 at the “G. Rossini” Conservatory in Pesaro. In 2001 he earned a degree in Political Science with an interdisciplinary thesis in Political Philosophy (Philosophical-Social curriculum) entitled Seduction and Production in the Myth of Don Giovanni, receiving a Special Mention at the Philosophy Prize “Viaggio a Siracusa” (2001 edition).
During the same years, he began studying Harmony, Counterpoint and Composition at the “G. Rossini” Conservatory in Pesaro and attended the film music composition seminar held by Maestro Nicola Piovani at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. At the same time, he took part in the “A. Dei” Composition and Conducting Workshops for Wind Orchestra in Florence, furthering his studies with Jacob de Haan, Jan Van der Roost, Claudio José Boncompagni, Lorenzo Della Fonte, Frank Battisti, Franco Cesarini and Felix Hauswirth.
In 2010 he obtained the Master of Arts in Music Performance – Major in Wind Orchestra Conducting (Second Level Degree) at the Conservatory of Southern Switzerland in Lugano, under the guidance of Maestro Franco Cesarini. He also earned a Specialization Diploma in Film Music Composition at the “G. Rossini” Conservatory in Pesaro, under the artistic direction of Maestro Luis Bacalov.
He is the author of the monograph Aaron Copland. Pioneer of American Music, published by Zecchini Editore (Varese). He regularly conducts wind orchestras, ensembles and choirs, carrying out an intense concert activity, and teaches courses in Conducting, Harmony and Instrumentation for Wind Orchestra.
His compositions are published by Scomegna Edizioni Musicali, Animando Music Publisher, Hal Leonard/De Haske, Da Vinci Music Publisher and Potenza Music, and have been recorded by renowned international wind orchestras. He is often invited to serve as a jury member for wind band and composition competitions; many of his works are also selected as set pieces for national and international contests.
He has taught Elements of Composition for Music Education at the “Gesualdo da Venosa” Conservatory in Potenza and at the “Arcangelo Corelli” Conservatory in Messina. He currently teaches Instrumentation and Composition for Wind Orchestra at the “Francesco Venezze” Conservatory in Rovigo and at the “F.A. Bonporti” Conservatory in Trento.
