Angela Ciampani

Angela Ciampani was born in Città della Pieve (PG) in 1968 and began studying the piano at the age of 4. At 8, she discovered her love for the accordion, with which she ranked among the top in the finals of prestigious national and international competitions. She graduated in Piano and Accordion from the “Centro Didattico Musicale” in Rome, and later earned her degree in Piano at the “G. Briccialdi” Conservatory in Terni. At the same conservatory, she began studying composition with Marco Gatti. She obtained a degree in Orchestral Conducting under the guidance of Fabio Maestri. She attended courses in conducting and instrumentation for wind band with Jacob De Haan, Carlo Pirola, Lorenzo Pusceddu, and Marco Somadossi. Since 1994, she has worked as a music expert and teacher in preschools, primary, and secondary schools. Since 1994, she has been the conductor of the Monteleone d’Orvieto (PG) Wind Band, and since 1998, conductor of the “Città della Pieve” (PG) Wind Band, with which she has led numerous concerts both in Italy and abroad. Since 2014, she has been the Director of the “P. Vannucci” School of Music in Città della Pieve (PG). From 2016 to February 2020, she was President of the ANBIMA Artistic Committee for the Umbria region. In 2019, her piece Agosto, transcribed for wind band by Jacob de Haan, was included in the American Bandworld ranking of the 100 most beautiful pieces for euphonium published in 2019. In 2023, she won second prize and the audience award at the “1st European Wind Band Composition Competition” in Benimaclet (Spain), reserved for female composers. Her musical output includes numerous piano pieces. She is the artistic director of the international educational wind band festival “nonconcorso” in Città della Pieve (PG), and of the international youth wind band composition competition “piccolo è bello”. Since 2016, she has been collaborating as a composer with Scomegna Music Editions.
