Description
This descriptive suite La Finestra sul Lago (Window on the Lake) took shape during a daily trip to Lake Misurina on a beautiful day at the end of the summer. The sun, peeping out from the mountains, radiates the first warm beams of the day and illuminates the body of water, which is swarming with life. Sitting at the lake shore, I can admire the joyful fluttering of the dragonflies against the light on the lake surface. They move with speed and frenzy, and the first movement of the suite precisely describes the activity of these very little and interesting insects. But suddenly, a stone thrown by a child brings to an end this spectacle and the little dragonflies fly away. The second section, poignant and delicate, describes in music the lonely life of a willow that lays its many branches on the shore near the lake. A gentle breeze from the east slips whistling through the branches and shakes their extremities, while some waterfowls stop at the bottom of the large tree, almost as though they'd like to comfort and keep company with the old sage. From the left, near the underbrush, here comes a happy family of ducklings lead by the mother duck. The typical gait of this bird is clearly represented by the initial 6/8 meter. With an agile bounce, mother duck jumps into the lake while, one by one, the ducklings glide on the shore and awkwardly enter the lake wallowing cheerful and content just a few meters from the shoreline. The tarantella well describes this funny moment when the ducklings, waving their small paws, happily dance around mother duck. In the end, captivated by images, sounds, colors, and scents that overwhelm my five senses, I go back home, bringing with me the memory of this unforgettable day.
