MARCIA DI GUIDO
Description
Guido Deiro (Salto Canavese, 1886 – 1950) Piedmontese accordionist, composer and singer emigrated to America at the beginning of the 20th century and became one of the most acclaimed musicians of his era. He was the first great piano accordion performer to appear on record, on the radio and on the screen. In addition to playing the popular hits of the moment and the light, classical and operatic repertoire, Deiro wrote many successful original compositions which became themes of famous musicals and Hollywood films. During his lifetime he recorded more than 110 songs, some of which became enormously famous and helped make Deiro a celebrity in American culture.
Guido married 4 times. His second marriage was to Mae West: a young vaudeville star and sex symbol, as well as a future movie star. Many of Deiro's compositions, such as this march, are characterized by a pedagogical imprint as they were created by the accordionist specifically for his students.
