FESTA DEL VILLAGGIO
This suite vividly depicts an imaginary village festival in an ancient town overlooking the Island of Licosa.
Description
Castellabate: The festival is about to begin in the ancient village and the inhabitants, called by the sound of the bells, are heading towards the castle.
The bell tolls chase each other in the air, creating a counterpoint that resonates among the olive groves (Section I).
Some wayfarers linger on the terrace of the belvedere and scan the horizon that merges with the sea. The island of Licosa stands out majestically in front of them, and Homeric deeds return to their minds while the song of the sirens echoes in the waves (Section II).
In the middle of the square stands a festively decorated tree with garlands and colorful ribbons. Slowly, the brides approach with their veils and white dresses and begin the dance of the nuptials.
The young men, with elegant movements, introduce themselves to the brides and, weaving long ribbons, proclaim their promises (section III).
