Description
The piece
Fun & Ky, which gained mention at the "Pellegrino Caso" competition for original band music in Vietri sul Mare (Salerno), celebrates the Seventies, the reign of jazz-rock, commonly known as funky. The piece is divided into three parts and conjures up images of life in the frenetic districts of Los Angeles, between Hollywood and Beverly Hills. At night, in a Cadillac, doing the rounds of the clubs (2nd movement) until morning (3rd movement) when people go back to their frenzied lifestyles. The sounds and harmonies retrace the school of that time, of Herbie Hancock and Earth Wind & Fire. "Fun & Ky" also includes the distinctive features of band music, creating the typical big-band sound.
