MENHIR
The menhirs are monolithic megaliths usually erected during the Neolithic, which could reach even more than twenty meters in height. Widespread in Europe, Asia and Africa, they can be places of worship but also astronomical calendars.
Description
In this piece the composer was inspired by Cuili Piras archaeological site in Sardinia, an ancient megalithic site built up of 53 granite menhirs, which not only created a site of worship but also a precision astronomic calendar. The atmospheres evocated by the music take us back to the prehistoric age, raising the fascinating question about who might have been capable of creating a construction of such astonishing proportions and characteristics.
