The piece
Nabucco was Giuseppe Verdi's third opera and the one that established his reputation as a composer. It premiered in 1842 at the Teatro La Scala in Milan. One of Verdi's best-loved choruses is probably "Va' Pensiero", from this opera (and symphony).
