Description
The piece
Overture for a celebration was composed in 2003. It is divided into three sections with an Introduction and a final Coda. The second part, in a slow tempo, features a motif introduced in the previous section. In the third movement particular importance is given to the percussion instruments. The various themes are then repeated in the Coda, which is characterised by its colourful instrumentation. Overture for a celebration has classical phrases and clear harmonies. This arrangement gives the brass instruments a leading role, making it a spectacular piece in spite of the simple structure.
