Massimo Sanfilippo
Massimo Sanfilippo was born in 1964 in Turin, where he still lives with his family. At the Courses of Musical Education organized by the City of Turin he studied percussion with Giorgio Artoni and Alberto Bosio, as well as composition with Carlo Pinelli. At the Conservatory of Music in Trent he began to study band instrumentation with Daniele Carnevali, and eventually obtained his degree at the Conservatory of Music in Turin under the direction of Sandro Satanassi. He was active as a member of the vocal and instrumental ensemble ''Il Sogno di Polifilo'' which specializes in the performance of early and contemporary music. For this group he has prepared the first modern edition, for voices and instruments, of many early music works by composers from the regions of Piedmont and Bohemia. In 2008 Sanfilippo was appointed principal conductor of the Wind Band of the Local Police Department of the City of Turin, an ensemble of which he had already been vice-conductor since 1994.
