Federico Agnello

Born in Augusta, Syracuse (Italy) on 2 February 1991, Federico Agnello studied percussion following the technical method of Professor Mariagrazia Armaleo and completed his degree at the “A. Corelli” Conservatory in Messina. He is particularly interested in innovative compositional techniques, and he is especially fond of Impressionist and contemporary music, as well as all forms of experimental music. Federico Agnello has won prestigious national and international awards as a percussionist. As composer, he has also won many prizes, including: First prize in the first category at the 2nd International Band Composition Contest “La Prime Lus” in Bertiolo (Udine) with Elusive Inspiration; Second prize with the composition Renri (Category B) at the 3rd International Contest for Original Youth Band Composition “Città di Sinnai,” and a special mention for the composition Dark Funky System (Catergory A); Special mention at the 8th International Composition Contest “Romualdo Marenco” in Bertiolo (Udine) with Sarcastic Damnation (prizes not awarded); First prize at the 3rd International Band Composition Contest “La Prime Lus” with Nuraxi; First prize at the International Composition Contest “Romualdo Marenco” in 2011 with Danze Pazze; semifinalist at the International Composition Contest “Coups de Vents” 2013 with Nuclear Warrior; First prize with the composition Frost Rhapsody at the 5th International Contest for Original Youth Band Composition “Città di Sinnai”; First prize in the first category at the 5th International Band Composition Contest “La Prime Lus” (2015) in Bertiolo (Udine) with Crazy Sketches; His first compositions have been recorded in the monographic CD titled Moyses. His works are often chosen as compulsory pieces in national and international wind band competitions. He is regularly invited to hold masterclasses on his compositions and as jury member in national and international band competitions. Currently, he is completing advanced composition, instrumentation, and wind band conducting courses (specialized two-year period) at the Conservatory of Music “Bonporti” in Trent studying with Daniele Carnevali. Agnello is often a guest conductor for his works with Italian wind bands. He is active in the Trentino region as the conductor of some youth wind bands and with one of them he won the first prize and the 1st Youth Band Competition of Costa Volpino in 2013. His compositions are published by Scomegna Edizioni Musicali.
