Filippo Ledda was born in Oristano in 1975. He attended the school for teachers, then the academy of music “G.P. da Palestrina” in Cagliari, where he specialized in Trumpet and Music Didactics. As a trumpet player he performed in the “Teatro Lirico di Cagliari” orchestra and he collaborated with the most important Sardinian wind ensembles. Filippo Ledda’s main activities deal with teaching: he used to teach in several schools of music, both with a wind band and a choral music approach. He is currently teacher in the primary school where he is focusing on new methodologies and new strategies to teach music theory and practice and he is carrying on ensemble music projects and workshops. He carries out intensive training for ensembles, school bands, young bands and wind bands all over Italy. He is frequently invited, as a jury member, to music contests. He studied wind band conducting, instrumentation and orchestration guided by Lorenzo Pusceddu. He has always been focused on original music composing for wind bands and especially young bands; this special interest allowed him to get national and international awards. His works are often used as compulsory pieces in important wind band competitions. From 2002 to 2013 he conducted the Associazione Musicale Alerese J-Band from Ales (OR) and since 2008 he has been the artistic director of the Circolo Musicale Parteollese wind band of Dolianova (CA). Since 2009 he has been conducting the “G. Verdi” Junior Band of Sinnai (CA). He is one of the creators of the musical project Sandalia Sonos, in which he’s engaged both as conductor of the young band and teacher in ensemble music classes for very young students.
