Beschreibung
The composition, in three movements, portrays in music different aspects of the French city of Mainviellers, located not far from Chartres and its magnificent cathedral.
The first movement, which features a solemn and majestic character, was inspired by some events in the history of the city: the arrival of the Germans in the fifth century, the wine business in the eighteenth century which, at the time of the French revolution counted up to ninety winemakers and, finally, the construction of the town hall in 1902, called "la Folie".
The second movement evokes a walk through the streets of the city with the discovery of the different districts, the church of Saint-Hilaire and its magnificent stained glass windows, and the park of the former castle of the Garenne.
The third movement illustrates some festive moments in the city, such as the celebration of Saint-Hilaire when, for three days in June, the population joins the musicians in joy and good humor, and the twinning with the German city of Römerberg.
