Description
The title
Commissioned to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the foundation of the "Banda Musicale Città di Procida" (Naples), this piece describes the island's three marinas. Curriccèdda (Borgo dei Pescatori): after an impressive introduction that depicts the force of the storm, the music gives itself up to the description of the island's oldest and most characteristic marina, a small but remarkable multi-colour Presepe with its picturesque houses. A world of its own surrounded by the sounds and colours of the sea. Sent'cò (Marina Grande): built on the part of the island facing Naples, Marina Grande was the main harbour and is still the hub of the island. In a lively, carefree atmosphere, the music portrays the joy and vitality that radiates from this place. Chiaulèdda: the beautiful beach and a marina that affords enchanting views at sunset make this a favourite with tourists. Procida: the musical elements that were presented in the first two movements of the suite re-appear in this final movement, where a tarantella dance precedes a generous and emphatic finale.
