Description
The title
"Sid Addir Babai" was the ancient name of the temple of Antas in the Cagliari area, built by the Carthaginians and renamed "Sardus Pater Babai" by the Romans. This piece, commissioned by the Fluminimaggiore band, describes a day's visit to the temple. The sombre and mysterious archaic sound emphasises the reawakening of the majestic monument. A more light-hearted part represents the arrival of the colourful and variegated tourists, in a musical climate full of contrasts. A gentle theme on the English horn (or, alternatively, alto sax) depicts the arrival of sunset and the handful of remaining visitors who stay to relish the enchanting atmosphere that reigns in the valley, full of evocative silences.
