NORTHERN ANNIVERSARY

The composition “Northern Anniversary” was written for ‘Leeuwarden, Cultural Capital of Europe 2018’, commissioned by the ‘Joost Wiersma’ Music Association in Jistrum and is a festive work. A short opening fanfare is followed by a cheerful faster section using themes comprised of a type of bolero, and one more majestic in nature. Then comes a sombre and more reflective middle section, which features various solo contributions, and concludes with a reprise of the faster first section.
