The title
This composition was commissioned by the Corpo Musicale of Cortina d'Ampezzo to celebrate its 140th anniversary. Through an alternation of predominantly rhythmic musical moments and austere, solemn sections, it emphasises the dual identity of this splendid tourist resort: its dynamic, sports and consumerist life on the one hand, and the splendour of its surrounding landscape on the other, with its lush valley and the grandeur of its mountains. The title is taken from the motto on the town flag, while a number of artifices were used to create the musical themes that reproduce the sound of the bells as they ring out the time in this delightful town and capital of the Dolomites.
