Beschreibung
Luciano Feliciani, director of the "Ugo Bottacchiari" Wind Band of Castelraimondo for over twenty years, was commissioned to write a new composition to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the wind band itself. The commission resulted in City Celebration, a solemn piece that he dedicated to the town of Castelraimondo and its band.
The Overture opens with a solemn and grandiose fanfare, immediately followed by an energetic and martial episode, which develops the same theme as the fanfare. This section describes the Cassero, the imposing 14th century 35-meter high tower, an emblem of the city.
A short slow episode acts as a link between the first and second theme which, based on the previous melodic material, gives shape to an Allegro giocoso through which the author describes the years of adolescence spent in Castelraimondo, his birthplace. At the end of the Allegro the theme of the fanfare returns and majestically closes the composition.
