THE GREAT OAK

A large oak tree, the beating heart of the Friulian community of Colloredo di Prato, is the protagonist of this composition. This oak tree, curious and silent in its majesty, has observed for over a century the succession of generations and events, from the saddest to the most beautiful. Among others, it witnessed the birth and growth of the city’s wind band: the beginnings, the developments, the difficulties contrasted by the serenity of making music together, and what the group has become today.
The rhapsodic composition describes the phases of the growth of the Filarmonica Colloredo di Prato, the wind band that commissioned it, from its birth until today. It is divided into various episodes that unfold without interruption and are united by the use of a melodic cell of 3 notes that acts as a glue.
